Welcome to Sol Nia

The Nia Technique is a dance of body + mind + spirit + emotions

Imagine engaging all of these realms on a sacred journey of self-discovery. And it is a journey, not a destination. Nia is about showing up with your Self on the dance floor, and being open to the gifts that reveal themselves through spontaneous, creative expression—be that in your movement, your vocalizations, a long-forgotten memory that bubbles up to the surface, or an emotion that ricochets out of your heart and through your chest. Nia is powerful—yes. Nia is movement as medicine—big medicine. Nia is body-centered therapy—feel to heal. Nia shows you that you are powerful.

In Nia we call the feet, “the hands that touch the earth,” and we dance barefoot, feeling our connection to the mother of us all, this beautiful planet that supports us and sustains us and every other living system. Using imagery and visualizations to encourage organic, self-directed movement helps create a balanced flow of energy in the body. Right here, right now, visualize your body + mind + spirit + emotions moving and being moved with the intention of finding yourself whole… and holy.

Julie Hart, Certified Nia Instructor and creative director of Sol Nia, offers classes in the Nia Technique in the Roaring Fork Valley and workshops, private sessions, small groups and corporate/non-profit team-building workshops throughout the Western Slope.
