Vision

I see a healed and healthy world of people.
Healed in their bodies + minds + spirits + emotions.

I see a roomful of women, dancing.

I see the women surrounded by the men,
keeping beat of rhythm on drums.

And in the middle of the men and women,
Protected
I see children, moving, free and safe
to be in their bodies + minds + spirits + emotions.

I see a joyful, celebrating, dancing people.

I want to share with you a love story

The Beginning

From a journal entry dated 4/19/06:

in autumn of 2001, i began a love affair with nia. for the next 2 and a half years, we courted-- dancing around each other's edges, testing each other's boundaries, entering into the depths of each other, knowing and being known. re-membering each other... for the first time. in summer of 2004, i was ready to make a commitment to her, and i traveled halfway around the world and under the equator to prove my intentions. in the cradle of humankind, deep in the mother belly of south africa, nia and i joined-- she a part of me and i a part of her. we came back to the states, eager to share our love with the world, not knowing that the push and pull that had characterized the early days of our relationship would surface once again. but we were committed, so we kept dancing, riding the waves that, at times, threatened to topple us. and then, in spring of 2006, a man came along and planted a seed-- quickly, but oh-so-deeply. in retrospect, it is apparent that we (but especially me) needed that male energy of action. for now, the man stands in the wings, energy spent, interested, but passively observing while nia and i dance together, creating, nurturing, loving into existence this child, sol nia, that has lie waiting in me.
